{"id":879,"date":"2012-06-28T14:40:40","date_gmt":"2012-06-28T14:40:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/?p=879"},"modified":"2012-06-28T15:54:57","modified_gmt":"2012-06-28T15:54:57","slug":"summer-is-for-workshops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/?p=879","title":{"rendered":"Summer is for Workshops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-21-2-37-08-PM1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Photo Jun 21, 2 37 08 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-21-2-37-08-PM1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"418\" height=\"560\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Getting ready for my first summer workshop! \u00a0A trip to New Hampshire for a day of indigo dyeing. \u00a0Luckily no mordant is needed for indigo dyeing, but my yarns must be clean and free of sizing and dirt, so I gave them a good soak in Eucalan and hung them out to dry!<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<dl id=\"attachment_866\">\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-22-2-55-48-PM.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Photo Jun 22, 2 55 48 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-22-2-55-48-PM.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"418\" height=\"560\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Harrisville Designs<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>I started the weekend with a trip to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrisville.com\/classes.htm\">Harrisville Designs<\/a>. \u00a0What a scenic spot! \u00a0The building further in the distance houses the retail shop and the workshop studios. \u00a0Other buildings house the spinning operation for the yarns and the woodworking shop for building the looms.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<dl id=\"attachment_867\">\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-22-3-03-45-PM.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Photo Jun 22, 3 03 45 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-22-3-03-45-PM.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"418\" height=\"560\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Harrisville Public Library<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>This was the first sweltering hot day of the summer, so it was lovely to be in a town so full of water. \u00a0The library sits just a short walk from the Harrisville Design buildings and is on a large body of water called Harrisville Pond. \u00a0Such still water here funnels into a stream that rushes past the mill buildings in the previous photo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Harrisville-General-Store.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Harrisville General Store\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Harrisville-General-Store.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"363\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A delightful place to have lunch, overlooking the Harrisville Design buildings, the rushing stream and the distant mountains! \u00a0What an idyllic spot!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-23-6-08-23-PM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Photo Jun 23, 6 08 23 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-23-6-08-23-PM.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"418\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The dyeing workshop took place at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.longridgefarm.com\/\">Long Ridge Farm <\/a>in Westmoreland, New Hampshire, owned by Nancy Zeller. \u00a0The studio is on the right and includes a beautiful balcony on the back where we had lunch in the canopy of the surrounding trees. (You can tell I did not take this photo since there was no snow during our visit.)<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<dl id=\"attachment_877\">\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-23-7-12-27-AM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Photo Jun 23, 7 12 27 AM\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photo-Jun-23-7-12-27-AM.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"418\" height=\"560\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>View from the Artist Loft<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>Our stay was enhanced by a bit off shopping in Brattleboro. \u00a0The fabric shop <a href=\"http:\/\/www.delectablemountain.com\/\">Delectable Mountain Cloth<\/a> is a must! \u00a0It is full of beautiful textiles, and I believe they are all natural fibers. \u00a0The food in Brattleboro was also a high point of the weekend! \u00a0Dinner at <a href=\"http:\/\/fireworksrestaurant.net\/brattleboro\/\">Fireworks<\/a> and breakfast at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ElliotStreetCafe\">Elliot Street Cafe<\/a> were both great.
