{"id":3243,"date":"2015-02-27T15:06:58","date_gmt":"2015-02-27T15:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/?p=3243"},"modified":"2015-02-27T15:12:35","modified_gmt":"2015-02-27T15:12:35","slug":"welcome-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/?p=3243","title":{"rendered":"Welcome March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s almost here, and I hope it comes in like a lamb! \u00a0We just got word from our oil company that we are dangerously low on oil and that the truck cannot get in our driveway due to the closed gate. \u00a0No one can get that gate open when there is so much snow piled up on either side of it!<\/p>\n<p>There is not much to report here. \u00a0The weather window for heading out of Florida has closed so nobody is leaving which means we are still anchored back in the mangrove swamps. \u00a0The herons and egrets and pelicans have good hunting back here and are wonderful to watch. \u00a0It seems that everytime they strike at something in the water they are swallowing a tasty morsel. \u00a0The juvenile eagle ray swims by Pandora at some point every day. \u00a0I think he must also find good feeding back here.<\/p>\n<p>Our older son Rob came for a visit this week after having some business in Miami. \u00a0It was wonderful to see him! \u00a0We spent a day together in Key West, using his rental car for the trip. \u00a0As you know there is only one road that runs down the Keys, US 1, and that road has only one lane in each direction. \u00a0Much of it is causeway going over water. \u00a0When there is an accident it pretty much closes down the ability to move in any direction. \u00a0If you are stuck on a causeway there is no getting off. \u00a0That is what happened to use on the trip back up to Marathon at the end of our day in Key West. \u00a0It was a bad accident and had the road closed for most of the day, so in the long run we were pretty lucky. \u00a0I&#8217;m sure lots of folks never got to their destination that day.<\/p>\n<p>Here are Rob and Bob enjoying some cool refreshment on a pretty front porch in Key West, at a bar called &#8220;The Porch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0218.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-3244\" alt=\"IMG_0218\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0218.jpg\" width=\"448\" height=\"597\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0218.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0218-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have a good crop of mint growing in my window box&#8211; along with cilantro and bright red geraniums&#8211; and we used the first mint harvest to make mojitos! \u00a0Yum!<\/p>\n<p>It was quite hard to say goodbye to Rob, not knowing when we will see him next&#8230;. and quite hard to learn the news that Chris has decided to move to San Francisco temporarily in order to make some connections out West for his banking start up. \u00a0This vagabond life is a little hard at times like this. \u00a0It&#8217;s hard enough to get enough time with my kids without also disappearing off the grid for months and months. \u00a0Sigh&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Our dinghy got damaged several weeks ago, and although Bob bought a repair kit, the fix was not to his liking. \u00a0We decided to have it re-done professionally. \u00a0Here it is going back in the water after a day at the shop.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0222.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-3245\" alt=\"IMG_0222\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0222.jpg\" width=\"560\" height=\"560\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0222.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0222-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0222-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We had to stay ashore for the day while the repairs were done&#8211;no other way to get back to our boat. \u00a0I found a beautiful spot for us to pass some time while we waited&#8230;.and have lunch as well!
