In spite of the bad lighting at the Rhode Island Convention, and perhaps because<\/em> of the smaller exhibitions of HGA events, I came back quite inspired to get down to work.\u00a0 I had the much-awaited black 16\/2 linen spool in hand to finish weaving the napkins on my lunch tote warp, and I got right down to it!<\/p>\n

This was really a fun project!\u00a0 Yes, there were comprises.\u00a0 I needed to design a fabric that would be sturdy enough for the exterior of a tote bag, but also be soft enough for a napkin.\u00a0 I thought I had struck a middle range by adding interfacing to the wrong side of the tote bag fabric for a little sturdiness.\u00a0 Well, that worked out quite well\u2026..but the napkin is a bit firmer than I\u2019d like to use myself.\u00a0 Hmmm\u2026. they do say that linen softens over time with repeated washings, and the napkin will get washed a LOT more than the tote bag. \u00a0I guess that\u2019s what I\u2019ll mention to the recipient.\u00a0 I am pretty certain she\u2019ll like the tote, but maybe not so much the napkin!\u00a0 I now have a set of four napkins myself, and I\u2019m not sure what to do with them!<\/p>\n

I promised the 8-shaft group on Facebook that I\u2019d share what the draft for this project was and how the bag was sewn.\u00a0 Here goes!<\/p>\n

\"IMG_1480\"<\/a>\u00a0At the moment, I am writing this while onboard Pandora<\/em> in Narragansett Bay.\u00a0 To say that there have been distractions does not begin to describe it!\u00a0 First, we are having the mildest summer of my entire life!\u00a0 Beautiful weather greets us everyday with cool breezes and deep blue \u00a0skies with giant cumulus clouds.\u00a0 Then there are all the beautiful sights along this bay\u2026. I plan to do a post in a few days that will have a smattering of the lovely sights we\u2019ve seen.<\/p>\n
