{"id":2835,"date":"2014-06-09T17:36:38","date_gmt":"2014-06-09T17:36:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/?p=2835"},"modified":"2014-06-09T17:45:34","modified_gmt":"2014-06-09T17:45:34","slug":"a-trip-along-the-hudson-river-and-huck-weaving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/?p=2835","title":{"rendered":"A Trip along the Hudson River and Huck Weaving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week was a beautiful time to be along the Hudson River Valley. \u00a0I drove up to participate in the Wednesday Group monthly class. \u00a0It was a stunning drive there and back, and it was beyond wonderful to be back in class after being away for several months.<\/p>\n<p>I took my spool tapestry, hoping to finish it or at least draw the finishing line across the top. \u00a0After everyone took a look at it, the general consensus was to have a shaped ending. \u00a0I really liked that solution, mostly because it meant I only had one more spool to weave! \u00a0So&#8230;.it is done!&#8230;well, except for all the finishing work.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-09-13.45.22.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2851\" alt=\"2014-06-09 13.45.22\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-09-13.45.22-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-09-13.45.22-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-09-13.45.22-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0Now I can get back to my medieval spinner and an intriguing idea that has been on my mind for a while.<\/p>\n<p>In the mornings before class, and in the evenings, I was so lucky to stay in place with magnificent views of the Hudson&#8230;..and to be in the company of two wonderful friends. \u00a0There is a lot of big ship traffic on the river, all day and through the night. \u00a0Very impressive! \u00a0And now that it is approaching summer there is plenty of pleasure boat traffic as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Alta-view-hudson-river.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2846\" alt=\"Alta view hudson river\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Alta-view-hudson-river-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Alta-view-hudson-river-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Alta-view-hudson-river-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Alta-view-hudson-river.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Friday my friends and I took a trip to the eastern side of the river to visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/omiartscenter.org\/explore.php?The-Fields-Sculpture-Park-3\">OMI Sculpture Park<\/a>, in Ghent. \u00a0First we made a quick stop at Frederick Church&#8217;s &#8220;Olana.&#8221; The Turkish inspired tile work is phenomenal, and I don&#8217;t know how all this tile work survives the climate here in upstate New York.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.30.16.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2837\" alt=\"2014-06-06 10.30.16\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.30.16-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.30.16-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.30.16-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The views of the river and the Catskills were as compelling as the views of the house and grounds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.31.14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2838\" alt=\"2014-06-06 10.31.14\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.31.14-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.31.14-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.31.14-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>And there were gardens, bursting with poppies, peonies, and iris&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.34.52.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2839\" alt=\"2014-06-06 10.34.52\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.34.52-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.34.52-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-10.34.52-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At OMI there was quite a bit of construction going on as they began installation of some new pieces. \u00a0The older pieces mostly looked really dated to me. \u00a0But in spite of the big equipment digging holes and moving artwork, and the <em>noise<\/em>, we managed to have a great time. \u00a0The weather was perfect June&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-12.17.26.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2836\" alt=\"2014-06-06 12.17.26\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-12.17.26-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-12.17.26-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-12.17.26-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-13.13.36.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2840\" alt=\"2014-06-06 13.13.36\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-13.13.36-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-13.13.36-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-06-13.13.36-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, back at home, Bob and I took a walk along our own Connecticut River and enjoyed the beautiful gardens that are full of peonies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-08-11.13.31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2841\" alt=\"2014-06-08 11.13.31\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-08-11.13.31-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-08-11.13.31-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2014-06-08-11.13.31-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>My own deep red &#8220;Blaze&#8221;
