{"id":2584,"date":"2014-02-11T03:31:05","date_gmt":"2014-02-11T03:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/?p=2584"},"modified":"2014-02-11T13:09:42","modified_gmt":"2014-02-11T13:09:42","slug":"we-are-in-the-bahamas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/?p=2584","title":{"rendered":"We are in the Bahamas!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was a long night making the crossing to the Bahamas. \u00a0I&#8217;m very thankful that it was a LOT easier than last year, but there were still a couple of hours of boisterous wind and waves that I could have skipped. \u00a0This is the dawn that greeted us after we&#8217;d been sailing on the banks for several hours.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-053.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2585\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-053.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-053.jpg 700w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-053-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>This year we cleared in on a small cay in the Berries called Chub Cay. \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t look at all like the Exumas, being much more lush&#8230;.rather like the Abacos. Here is the little church at the main cross roads on the island.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-002.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2586\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-002.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-002.jpg 700w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-002-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here is <em>Pandora<\/em> sitting at anchor while we visited the Chub Cay Club. \u00a0Even on a second visit to these waters, I am stunned by how beautiful it is.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-004.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2587\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-004.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-004.jpg 700w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-004-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0The water all around us is full of sea life: \u00a0red starfish, ramoras, barricuda, sharks!&#8230;.even little puffer fish. \u00a0Here is a shark that was checking us out&#8230;.I think he knew that Bob wanted to clean the hull of <em>Pandora,<\/em> and maybe he thought he might get lucky and snag a couple fingers or toes if he waited&#8230; (and there is nothing to get a sense of scale in this photo, so I&#8217;ll tell you this shark is about 8 feet long).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-011.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2588\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-011.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-011.jpg 700w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-10-14-011-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When Bob did clean the hull (and I stood on deck keeping watch for the sharks, with a big screw driver in my hand, ready to bang on the hull to give Bob a warning to get out of the water!), all the fish hung out all around him. \u00a0The ramora stayed right by his side, and we&#8217;re thinking he was enjoying the little bits of stuff that Bob was scraping off the hull.<\/p>\n<p>The second night we were here we saw the green flash!&#8230; and then there have been wonderful sunrises, sunsets, and even a rainbow and a water funnel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-060.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2589\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-060.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-060.jpg 700w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-060-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-063.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2590\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-063.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-063.jpg 700w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-8-14-063-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>Today we left the Berries and sailed for Nassau where we will meet Christopher in just a couple more days. \u00a0While we wait I think I might take a look at the shops in Atlantis&#8230;. now there&#8217;s a thought! We are anchored right off some docks with a pretty restaurant called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucianosnassau.com\/\">Luciano&#8217;s<\/a>. \u00a0Dinner there last night was quite memorable! We ate on the terrace, shown here, overlooking Atlantis across the harbor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-11-2014-Lucianos-terrace-nassau.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2597\" alt=\"2-11-2014 Lucianos terrace nassau\" that I finished the first Oktoberfest sock! \u00a0<em>Go me!<\/em> I know the photo is too dark. \u00a0Sigh&#8230;.it was getting late in the day. \u00a0I am happy with the pattern. \u00a0The barley stalks remind me of bubbles, and I love the frothy finish at the top! &#8230;.the color is quite reminiscent of a Blue Moon! \u00a0I might not see one of those &#8217;til I get home in
