Pierce. \u00a0We are staying at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harbortownmarina-fortpierce.com\/\">Harbortown Marina<\/a>, and there are several boats here that we remember from the Bahamas last winter. \u00a0It&#8217;s a small world!<\/p>\n<p>I always go through a bit of mourning when I come onboard. \u00a0Everything is so small. \u00a0Once again I&#8217;ve got too much stuff with me. \u00a0This time around I think I will mail some clothing home. \u00a0I can&#8217;t fit it all into my three small drawers! \u00a0But this time around I have a 3rd set of bedsheets for when there is no \u00a0laundry for weeks and weeks on end! \u00a0This year I know that sheets are non-negotiable!<\/p>\n<p>Last night we met some of our new\/old friends at the little open air bar at the end of our dock. \u00a0It was a slightly chilly evening so we sat at a large fire pit that had gas flames flickering up through a large bowl of colored glass fragments. \u00a0Very hedonistic! \u00a0Just off from our dock are a few large mangrove bushes, and as sunset passed a huge flock of ibises began landing in the mangroves for the night. \u00a0They looked like large puffy white blossoms on the bushes. \u00a0Intermingled with them were a few blue herons and pelicans, but it was mostly an amazing vision of fluffy white &#8216;blossoms&#8217; on the deep green mangroves. \u00a0I hope to get photo this evening!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-2014-ibises-Ft.-Pierce.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2566\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-2014-ibises-Ft.-Pierce.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-2014-ibises-Ft.-Pierce.jpg 700w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-2014-ibises-Ft.-Pierce-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To ease into boat life I had planned a very simple dinner with virutally no cooking. \u00a0I made a large salad of greens and vegetables with goat cheese for a bit of protein. \u00a0My mistake was that I&#8217;d recently had a <em>delicious<\/em> salad dressing at the Old City House Inn restaurant in St. Augustine, and I had just had to see if I could re-create it. \u00a0It was a roasted shallot vinaigrette, so naturally I had to roast some shallots! \u00a0And since I was doing that I figure why not roast a head of garlic as well which will surely get used in the near future. \u00a0Well, imagine a slightly oily baking pan from the roasting, \u00a0a messy miniature food processor from pureeing those shallots, \u00a0a salad bowl, all the raiments from cutting the vegetables&#8230;.in other words, I managed to make a HUGE mess in my tiny galley on an evening when I was just going to do something simple with no fuss. \u00a0Ugh!<\/p>\n<p>Today promises to be picture perfect! \u00a0Blue skies, a gentle breeze, soft temperatures.<\/p>\n<p>I have started my first &#8220;Tsock&#8221; pattern from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsocktsarina.com\/\">&#8220;Tsarina.&#8221;<\/a> \u00a0It is called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsocktsarina.com\/sockkits\/oktoberfest.html\">&#8220;Octoberfest,&#8221;<\/a> and I love the bright golden colorway, including a light frothy &#8216;head&#8217; for the top of the sock. \u00a0I enjoyed trying out her toe beginning. \u00a0For my other toe-up sock, the &#8220;Skew&#8221; sock from Knitty, I started by wrapping and casting on to two needles held parallel. \u00a0For Octoberfest you cast on half the number of stitches and work back and forth in short rows to create the toe. \u00a0It was easy and somewhat <em>mythical<\/em> watching the toe emerge from this simple technique! \u00a0Today, if there is time after the endless chores, I will knit the straight stockinette bit of the foot toward the heel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2014-02-01-09.43.28.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2555\" alt=\"2014-02-01 09.43.28\" src=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2014-02-01-09.43.28-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2014-02-01-09.43.28-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2014-02-01-09.43.28-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a luxury being at a marina in for a few days in Ft.
